  1. I caught your paint story on Sunday morning. It is looking very good. No pressure, but will we see it next year at British by the Sea in Waterford, first Sunday in June???? We had a area for restorations in progress.

  2. Mr. Hogan

My name is Donald. I was a security officer at the former channel 3 location in Hartford. I have an objective for which I am seeking your guidance. I know you are a rider and so am I. I have owned a ‘07 Goldwing, ;05 v-star and an ‘05 r6. I am now the owner of a burgman scooter. This because of my disability. What I would like to do is gather other scooter riders to promote the ADA and help with charities in the greater hartford area. I am currently developing a not for profit club called simply Conntecticut motor scooter club.

I am planning an event ..Meet and greet for scooter riders in the greater hartford area and am asking for donations of $15.00 per scooter and a non parisable food item (49cc – 650cc) this to go to the West Hartford Food Pantry. The event would conclude with a group ride from the Fern Park in West Hartford thru downtown Hartford and ending in West Hartford Center. PLEASE CONTACT ME AT DONELKEY@YAHOO.COM i WELCOME ANY AND ALL SUGESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE FOR ME.

    THANK YOU

    SINCERELY,

    Donald R. Elkey Jr.

  5. Hello Mr. Hogan,
I was hoping that I could convince you to drop by Warsaw Park in Ansonia on April 18, 2009 to provide a little press coverage on our Play & Learn fair. Then, you can drop by and say “hello” to your mother on the way home. (I have met her on several occasions at Assumption School.)

The Play & Learn fair is our Valley wide celebration of the Week of the Young Child. We always have a tremendous turnout of families. This being our third year, we are hoping that we can create a little more excitement about this unique event.

If you are interested, please contact me at my e-mail address. I can give you some times when the local mayors will be dropping in and provide you with more details about our event.

    Thank you
    Karen Hicks

  7. Kevin:

Delighted to learn of your MGA restoration. I am a proud MG Midget owner with parts from 1970-1979 model years.

In any event, your GM/Chrysler dealer story made me think through why I and many others have difficulty supporting American automakers.

I questioned myself for the reason that for me a future GM or Chrysler vehicles purchase is a non-starter. Using what I know about the Chrysler “bail-out” helped me with the thought process. Simply put:

    - While warranty and services may become an issue for me is that the entire ‘bail out/re-structure process does not past the smell test. No one seems to know how the package is paid in either the short or long term.

    - Thus far Chrysler has used the majority of the billions of tax dollars already provided to fund non-car building activities. To my knowledge very few of these funds are used to support dealer expenses (loans, pay role, etc), develop new products, pay suppliers or reduce production costs and/or to subsidize new purchase consumer loans.

    - When the federally stated goal is to preserve American auto manufacturer why does a major portion of the re-structure depend on a foreign manufacturer, Fiat? What are the details or better said, what has the federal government promised Fiat such they would agree to become a minority stock holder with management responsibility and federal oversight?

    - The federal government wants/has demanded secured Chrysler bond holders give up their secured position and reduce their investment 55-70%. Many of these secured bonds fund retirement benefits from teachers and firefighters to already retired folks. Another big question is whether or not we taxpayers will fund or make up any difference?

    - Under the announced federally directed re-restructure the AFL-CIO union receives a 55% stock ownership without any reduction to un-secured pensions and benefits. This effectively changes the AFL-CIO pension and benefit program from unsecured to secured debt and means that Chrysler is a federally funded employee owned company.

    - To me this means that in addition to tax dollars, federally guaranteed loans, special deals to Fiat and before tax un-modified employee benefit costs, 55% of any after tax profits go to AFL-CIO not re-pay federal loans or re-build reduced bond funds.

I and many with whom I speak, simply do not see any true benefit for the country in the near or far term.

Thanks for letting me express an opinion.

    Regards, J. Evans

    • I can’t wait to get this car on the road! Do you have your original engine?

    • Dear J Evans,
I will be blogging shortly about the things I learned this week from the dealers. Eye opening.
